Whitewater has shaped the development of my daughter.
It’s something that we enjoy that we can do together.

These moments turn into memories that bring us closer.
Also, paddling whitewater gets her outside.
In an ever-increasing virtual world, I am thrilled to see her in the real world developing skills, interacting with her environment, and developing an appreciation for the beauty of nature.
Finally, paddling whitewater has developed her confidence and inner strength.

She learned to manage risks.
She challenges herself by undertaking things that can be frightening.
And by doing so, has developed a resiliency critical for success.
I am glad to have been able to provide these experiences for her.

I am also grateful to the people in the river community who have welcomed, supported, and mentored her over the years.
I told her one day, “You’ve got great river instincts.”
She looked at me.
“Kinda like I was raised on the river, huh?”
Indeed.
